Hi!
My name is Yara Ruby and I’m an illustrator who works in Rotterdam and lives in Dordrecht, the Netherlands.
As a little girl I started with drawing in the studio of my mom in our garden. This is the place where my love for drawing was born and from then on I knew I wanted to make drawings for a living.
You can recognize my illustrations by the crunchy pencil-drawn lines, combined with bright colors and colorful shapes. Lively characters play a big role in my work. I likes to define my work as cute, but not too cute, I’m always looking for that cheeky, humorous twist.
I enjoy working for and with clients from the cultural sector such as museums but also for businesses like shops and magazines. In 2024 I illustrated two children’s books. In addition to working as a freelance illustrator from my shared studio in Rotterdam, I also teach drawing lessons to children once a week in the same studio of my mother - where I once started with drawing.
