See You Later, Illustrator!

Live drawing


During every school vacation "See You Later, Illustrator!", an event originally organized by Bliksem Magazine, takes place in museum de Kunsthal.

During this event the poet Wessel Klootwijk tells a story while I draw along with him.  The children can see what is drawn because it is live projected on a large screen. They are free to contribute to the story and to draw and write along.

Every edition of the event has a different theme, themes we had are: home, dreams and friends. We also had a few editions linked to a exhibition that was on display in the Kunsthal during that time, with the themes: “Dieren met Mensenmanieren” and “Met Beide Benen in de Lucht (roughly translated: Animals with human manners” and “With both Legs in the Sky”).

The visiting children get a small book in which they can draw along.
For the cover of this sketch book de Kunsthal asked me to make an illustration, which reflects the playfull event.
